I’m David Reilly — a political communicator and podcast host living with cerebral palsy, which affects my verbal communication.
Disabled people are often talked about in politics and media, but voices like mine are rarely heard or included in the national conversation. That’s why I’m committed to building inclusive media that makes space for people who are usually left out. With more than 15 years in political communications, advocacy, and storytelling, I’ve focused on opening up public life, so it reflects the people it serves. Through People & Politics, my writing, and my wider work, I challenge assumptions about who gets to speak and who gets heard.
Connect with me
Through my podcast People & Politics, I bring together senior political figures, writers, and commentators to explore the issues that matter. My work blends strategic communications with lived experience, challenging the idea that only certain voices belong in political spaces.

I’ve been writing for more than 20 years, using storytelling to challenge assumptions and bring lived experience into political and public conversations. My work spans political commentary, disability advocacy, and reflective pieces rooted in real life.
I also write about disability sport through my agency work and through David Ventures, my long‑running blog and website focused on inclusion, challenge, and lived experience.
My book is a deeply personal and motivational account of my life — the barriers I’ve faced, the assumptions I’ve had to challenge, and the strength it takes to keep moving forward when the world expects less of you. It’s about identity, resilience, and refusing to let other people define your limits.
The book has already inspired audiences across the UK, and it’s opened the door to a growing number of motivational speaking opportunities. I share the same message in every room I walk into: that lived experience is powerful, and that adversity can be a catalyst for change, not a barrier to it.
If you’ve followed my work in politics, disability advocacy, or through People & Politics, this book offers a deeper look at the journey that shaped my voice and my mission.
